Step-by-Step Puja Method

1. Preparation (Sankalpa)

Begin with purification: Take a bath, wear clean clothes, and sit facing east or north.

Sankalpa Mantra:

"Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha, Shrí Ganesha prasanna bhava, sarva vighnani nivaaraya nivaaraya"

2. Invocation (Avahana)

Invoke Lord Ganesha: Ring the bell and invite Ganesha to accept your worship.

Invocation Mantra:

"Aagaccha Ganapati deva, puja grihana Gajanan"

(Come, O Lord Ganapati, please accept this worship, O Gajanan)

3. Main Worship (Shodashopachara)

Offerings in Order:

  1. Dhyana (Meditation)
  2. Asana (Seat offering)
  3. Padya (Washing feet)
  4. Arghya (Water offering)
  5. Achamana (Sip of water)
  6. Snana (Sacred bath)
  7. Vastra (Cloth offering)
  8. Upavita (Sacred thread)

Light the lamp: Perform arti with camphor or oil lamp in circular motions while chanting.

How to perform Arti: Light camphor or oil lamp, move in clockwise circles while singing this arti. Ring bells during the chorus "Jaydev Jaydev" and conclude with offering flowers and taking blessings.
